In Loving Memory of Jose Maria "Chema" Trevino

As a family and friends, we gather with heavy hearts to honor and celebrate the life of our
beloved, Jose Maria "Chema" Trevino.
Mr. Joe "Chema" Trevino was 88 years old born on January 19, 1937, The year of the Hindenburg Disaster. A native of Texas and a resident of his cherished
Madera, California. On December 15, 2025, he passed away peacefully in Madera.
Chema received only a third-grade education, yet he was a man of great intelligence,
determination, and wisdom gained through life. From a young age, he worked as a truck driver
and through discipline, hard work, and perseverance, built a successful life. He was truly a
self-made man who never allowed circumstances to define him and overcame many obstacles.
Chema had a gift for working with his hands. He taught himself to be a mechanic and could fix
almost anything. After retiring from truck driving at the age of 55, Chema and his beloved wife
Julie found joy in working together in what they like to do.
Family was always at the center of Chema's life. He was a devoted husband of 65 years, a
loving father to Javier and his late wife Natalie, and to his son Junior and daughter-in-law Edna.
He was a proud grandfather to Victor, Joshua, Caleb, Tina, Julie, and Julian, and a joyful
great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren who brought him so much happiness.
Chema was a loving big sibling to Candy, Jim, Juanita, Felix, Mary, James, and George. He was
surrounded by many nieces, nephews, and friends who became family, especially Maria
Chacon, whose friendship meant so much to him.
Chema was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Loera, his beloved wife, Julia Trevino; and
his sister, Alicia Salazar. Though they are no longer with us, their memory lives on in the love
they shared with Chema.
Anyone who knew Chema knew laughter. He was quick-witted, sharp, and always ready with a
spontaneous remark that brought smiles and laughter. He had a way of making people feel
comfortable and welcome, and his presence could brighten any room. Chema was genuine,
kind, and deeply loved.
Chema and Julie shared a love for travel and experienced many beautiful places together,
including Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Alaska, Panama, and many others. No matter where he went,
his heart always remained with his family.
We will miss Chema deeply. Though we mourn his passing, we are grateful for the years we
shared, the memories we hold, and the love he gave so freely. Chema will live on in our hearts,
in our stories, and in the laughter he leaves behind. Chema knows God, He will follow God, and
God will give him eternal life.
