Eulalio "Layo" Torres Galvan nació el 12 de febrero de 1947 en Aratzipu, Guanajuato, México, hijo de Guadalupe Galvan y Trinidad Torres. Fue el tercero de siete hijos. A la edad de doce años, su familia se mudó a Guadalajara. Desde muy joven, Layo comenzó a trabajar para ayudar a su madre, un acto silencioso de amor que reflejaba al hombre dedicado y trabajador que siempre fue. Se abrió camino en California, donde en 1980 contrajo matrimonio con el amor de su vida, Dolores Rangel, en Glendale, California. Juntos se establecieron en Salinas en 1981, donde él trabajó en diversas cuadrillas de lechuga, y en 2007 se jubiló de Tanimura & Antle – Salad Time. En 2006, Layo y Dolores hicieron su hogar en Madera, California, donde vivió sus queridos años finales animando a sus amados Chivas de Guadalajara, cuidando su jardín y paseando a su fiel compañero, Peanut.

El 11 de marzo de 2026, Layo falleció pacíficamente en Madera Community Hospital, rodeado de la familia que adoraba, tras años de enfrentar con valentía una enfermedad pulmonaria. Le sobreviven su amada esposa Dolores; su hija Oliva y su yerno Hugo Bernal; su hijo Juan Erardo y su nuera Joanna Galvan; sus nietas atesoradas: Alexandria, Anabel y Amaris; su hermano José Isabel; y numerosos sobrinos y sobrinas que lo llevarán siempre en el corazón. Le precedieron en la muerte sus hermanos Luis, Catalina, Saúl, Fermín y Ana. La vida de Layo fue un testimonio de resiliencia, amor y la belleza que se encuentra en una vida sencilla y fiel. At the age of twelve his family moved to Guadalajara. From a young age, Layo took on work to help support his mother, a quiet act of love that reflected the devoted and hardworking man he would always be. He made his way to California, where in 1980 he married the love of his life, Dolores Rangel, in Glendale, California. Together, they settled in Salinas in 1981, where he worked in various lettuce crews, and in 2007 he retired from Tanimura & Antle – Salad Time. In 2006, Layo and Dolores made their home in Madera, California, where he spent his cherished later years cheering for his beloved Guadalajara Chivas, tending to his garden, and walking his faithful companion, Peanut.

On March 11, 2026, Layo passed peacefully at Madera Community Hospital, surrounded by the family he adored, after years of bravely facing pulmonary illness. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores; his daughter Oliva and son-in-law Hugo Bernal; his son Juan Erardo and daughter-in-law Joanna Galvan; his treasured granddaughters: Alexandria, Anabel, and Amaris; his brother Jose Isabel; and countless nieces and nephews who will forever hold him in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his siblings Luis, Catalina, Saul, Fermin, and Ana. Layo's life was a testament to resilience, love, and the beauty found in simple, faithful living. He will be deeply and forever missed.
