Dorothy Marie Sheets (née Wood) peacefully passed away in her sleep on June 30, 2024. She was born on July 17, 1930, in Blevins, Arkansas. Dorothy spent her teenage years in Bakersfield, where she met the love of her life, Orville Sheets. They married on April 15, 1949, and spent 71 wonderful years together.

Dorothy worked as a post office clerk with the US Postal Service until her retirement. She was an amazing artist who loved to oil paint, often creating artwork that reminded her of Orville. Dorothy also had a deep passion for music; she began playing the piano at her church at the age of 15 and continued to play for local churches and Friday Night "Singings." Her devotion to music and God was evident throughout her life.

Dorothy cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren, loving each one dearly. As her family grew, she extended that love to every grandchild and great-grandchild, treating each as if they were her favorite.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Guy Wood, her sister, Mary Cason, and her brother, Bill Wood. Dorothy is survived by her brother, Bob Wood; her sons, Charles Sheets and his wife Gina, and Randall Sheets and his wife Melissa; her grandchildren;

Caslyn Ross, Alaina Sheets, Charles Sheets, Faith Sheets, Colton Sheets, and Chandler Sheets; and her great-grandsons, Wyatt Mullins,

Liam O'Brien, Colton Ishibashi, Kingston Ishibashi and great granddaughter Jillian O'Brien
