In Loving Memory of Derrick "Mikey" Michael Wilson
August 30, 2004 – July 31, 2026
Derrick "Mikey" Michael Wilson, 21, of Madera, California, passed away unexpectedly on July 31, 2026, following a tragic car accident. Mikey was born on August 30, 2004, and was raised in Madera, California, surrounded by his family and the people who loved him most.
Mikey was the kind of person who was quiet and shy when you first met him, but once he opened up, you quickly found out how funny he really was. He was laid-back, caring, and one of the most giving people you could meet. He never judged people and would give whatever he could without ever expecting anything in return. He had a way of making the people around him laugh, even without trying.
Growing up, Mikey played baseball alongside his younger brother, Eric, until the age of 15. Those years created memories and a bond between the two brothers that would last a lifetime. Family was extremely important to Mikey. He shared a loving relationship with his mother, Luisa, his older brother Angel, his younger brother Eric, and his younger sisters Cecilia and Violet. He was also very close to his grandfather, Rick, who gave Mikey his beloved 2002 Pontiac Firebird. That car was something Mikey was incredibly proud of and meant even more because it came from his grandfather.
Mikey had many interests that made him who he was. He loved cars, guns, knives, and Pokémon. He also had a passion for collecting things, whether it was vintage coins, figures, or some completely random item he happened to find interesting. If Mikey liked something, he would find a way to make it part of his collection.
Mikey worked at Golden Valley Winery and was building a life of his own. He was loved by his girlfriend, Lilyana, and by many friends, including one of his closest friends, Gilbert. More than anything, Mikey loved the people around him and enjoyed the simple moments spent with family and friends.
Mikey was a Christian Catholic and carried his faith in his own personal way. While he did not regularly attend church, his faith was important to him and remained a part of who he was.
Those who knew Mikey will remember the little things just as much as the big ones, from his love of his Firebird and his collections, to his jokes, his quiet personality, and even the loud burps that would echo through the house when he was around his family. Those are the moments that made Mikey who he was, and those are the moments his family will hold onto forever.
Mikey's life was far too short, but the love he gave to his family and friends will never be forgotten. He leaves behind his mother Luisa, his brothers, Angel and Eric, his sisters Cecilia and Violet, his grandfather Rick, his girlfriend Lilyana, and many friends and loved ones who will continue to carry his memory with them.
Mikey will always be remembered for his kind heart, his sense of humor, his giving nature, and simply being himself. He was not just a son, brother, grandson, boyfriend, and friend. To the people closest to him, he was someone who made life better just by being in it.
Forever 21. Forever our Mikey.
I love you big little bro.
- Eric Wilson
May we remember not the way you left us,
but the love, laughter, and moments
you gave us while you were here.
May your memory bring comfort
when the days feel heavy,
and may the love you left behind
remind us that a beautiful life
can never truly be forgotten.
Until we meet again,
may you rest in peace.
